Bangladesh and South Korea Set to Sign CEPA Agreement During Upcoming Presidential Visit
State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humayun Kabir meets South Korean trade officials in Seoul to discuss the upcoming CEPA execution.

State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humayun Kabir expressed optimism that Bangladesh and South Korea will formally sign the proposed Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) during the upcoming visit of the South Korean President to Bangladesh.

During a bilateral meeting with South Korea's Vice Minister for Trade, Industry and Energy Hyejin Kwon in Seoul on Thursday (October 1, 2026), State Minister Kabir emphasized expanding trade, investment, technological collaboration, and development cooperation. Following the successful conclusion of negotiations for the trade framework in August, Kabir noted that CEPA will facilitate Bangladesh's integration into Korean and regional supply chains ahead of its graduation from Least Developed Country (LDC) status. The Bangladesh delegation requested expanded market access for goods and services, simplified quarantine procedures, joint government-to-government (G2G) investment promotion, and South Korean support for Bangladesh's entry into the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP). Vice Minister Kwon welcomed the progress in bilateral economic relations, reaffirming South Korea's interest in expanding industrial ties and commercial trade under the CEPA framework.
