Prime Minister Tarique Rahman officially inaugurated the three-day international conference ‘Bay of Bengal Conversation 2026’ at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in Dhaka on Saturday morning (October 3, 2026), declaring that his newly elected government is systematically transforming Bangladesh into an attractive global investment destination and manufacturing hub.

Addressing an audience of international diplomats, economists, technology leaders, and foreign policy experts, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman emphasized that national interest, policy continuity, economic stability, and institutional reforms form the bedrock of his administration's five-year agenda. Organized by the Centre for Governance Studies (CGS) under the theme "Fragments, Frontiers, Futures: Navigating Power, Technology, and Trust in a World Rewritten," the summit features speakers from over 80 countries.

In his keynote address, the Prime Minister highlighted key governance pillars, including targeted social protection through Family, Farmers, Health, and Universal Cards, alongside the recruitment of 100,000 healthcare workers—80 percent of whom will be women. He reaffirmed major environmental and infrastructure commitments, including the excavation of 20,000 kilometers of canals, implementation of the Teesta Master Plan, the Padma Barrage project, and a nationwide drive to plant 250 million trees over five years. On foreign policy, he reiterated Bangladesh's commitment to protecting national sovereignty while urging international partners to ensure the safe, voluntary, and dignified repatriation of nearly 1.3 million Rohingya refugees to Myanmar. CGS Executive Director Parvez Karim Abbasi and CGS Chairman Zillur Rahman also delivered welcoming remarks at the inaugural session.
