Bangladesh Forecasts Rain Across All Eight Divisions as Cyclone 'Arnab' Weakens; Temperatures Set to Drop
Dark clouds gathering over the skyline as Bangladesh prepares for nationwide rainfall following Cyclone Arnab's landfall in India.

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has issued a five-day nationwide weather forecast predicting rain, squally winds, and a gradual reduction in temperatures across all eight administrative divisions. The weather pattern comes as Very Severe Cyclonic Storm 'Arnab', which crossed the Andhra Pradesh coast, moves northwestward into mainland India while weakening into a deep depression.

According to BMD Meteorologist Md. Tariful Newaz Kabir, speaking on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, the ongoing mild heatwave affecting Dhaka, Khulna, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions—alongside districts like Pabna, Sirajganj, Cumilla, Chandpur, Feni, Laxmipur, Bhola, and Barishal—is expected to abate over the next 24 hours.

Starting Thursday, October 29, isolated to widespread rain and thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds will impact Rajshahi, Rangpur, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions. Peak precipitation is expected between October 30 and October 31, before weather conditions begin clearing up around November 1. Following this 5-day transitional cycle, the meteorological department anticipates a sustained nationwide drop in temperatures, signaling the onset of seasonal cooling.
