Residents of the Bank Town area staged a demonstration and sieged the Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company office in Savar, demanding an uninterrupted gas supply. Hundreds of men and women gathered on Wednesday morning at the Titas Gas Savar zonal office in Shimultala to express their anger over low gas pressure and demand an immediate end to the severe crisis.
Abdul Jabbar, President of the Bank Town Residential Housing Cooperative Society Limited, expressed frustration at the ongoing situation, stating that residents have faced extreme hardship for a long time despite regularly paying their gas bills every month. He called on Titas Gas authorities to explain why normal gas supply remains unavailable.
The society's General Secretary, Emarat Hossain, warned that residents are deeply angered and urged authorities to restore gas flow immediately, threatening larger unified protests if their demands are not met. Chief Advisor of the society, R I Sajjad, added that gas is unavailable during the day, and the minimal gas pressure received briefly at night remains unacceptable.
Protesters who gathered in front of the office urged swift administrative action to restore normal gas pressure and ensure a continuous supply.
Addressing the grievances, Abdullah Hasan Al Mamun, Manager of Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Limited's Savar Zonal Office, stated that officials are aware of the low gas pressure in Bank Town and have informed higher authorities. He assured that supply to the area will normalize once overall system pressure rises.
