The District Intelligence Branch (DB) Police claimed to have seized 200 Yaba pills and BDT 200,000 in cash during a raid in the Bhairampur area under Kadamtala Union of Pirojpur Sadar Upazila. A young man identified as Md. Limon Hossain (25) was arrested in connection with the incident. Police also named another individual, Rabiul Hawlader (35), as an accused in the case, noting that he is currently absconding.
According to the case statement, DB police conducted a raid on Rabiul Hawlader's residence in Bhairampur at around 9:30 PM on Tuesday (September 29). Police alleged that 100 Yaba pills were recovered from Limon Hossain's possession, and another 100 pills were found in a wardrobe drawer in the house based on information he provided. The seizure list also recorded BDT 200,000 in cash retrieved from a shopping bag during the same operation, which police claimed was proceeds from drug sales.
However, the suspect's family offered a contrasting statement regarding the source of the cash. Rabiul Hawlader’s wife, Akhi Akter, claimed that the money at home was not drug-related, but earned through legitimate commercial transactions involving cattle sales, poultry feed, and chicken trading. The family added that approximately BDT 60,000 belonging to Limon Hossain was also being kept with them temporarily. They demanded a proper verification of the actual ownership and source of the seized funds.
SI Palash Biswas of the DB Police filed a case under the Narcotics Control Act, 2018 at Pirojpur Sadar Police Station against Limon Hossain and Rabiul Hawlader. Official documents show the case was formally recorded on September 30. Pirojpur DB Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Mahbub stated that 200 Yaba pills and BDT 200,000 in cash were recovered, one suspect was arrested, and anti-narcotics drives will continue.
