The River Police have recovered the body of former Bangladesh Air Force officer Flight Lieutenant KM Tahsif Suri from the Turag River in Dhaka's Uttarkhan area, following his disappearance earlier in the week.
The body was retrieved at approximately 4:00 PM on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, from the river near Rajabari Ghat under Uttarkhan Police Station. Tahsif Suri, who resided in Sector 18 of Uttara, had been missing since Tuesday night, October 27. Tongi River Police Outpost Inspector Firoz Uddin confirmed that police responded to a National Emergency Service 999 call before recovering the body and sending it to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
According to Uttarkhan Police Station Duty Officer Shahinur Zaman, the deceased was clad in a white pajama and black shirt, wearing a wristwatch, and carrying an iPhone in his pocket, which enabled law enforcement to confirm his identity. Tahsif Suri had previously drawn significant public discussion for recording the viral video of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s departure aircraft on August 5, 2024. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) had previously clarified on August 4 last year that Flight Lieutenant Tahsif Suri was retired under standard institutional procedures without any charges or allegations. Law enforcement agencies have launched an investigation to determine the exact circumstances surrounding his death and how he entered the river.
