
Chattogram District Superintendent of Police (SP) Md. Masud Alam has called upon leaders of the Puja Udjapan Parishad to maintain sharp vigilance against social media rumors, misinformation, and provocative content ahead of the upcoming Sharadiya Durga Puja festivities.
Addressing a coordination meeting held on Sunday morning (October 4, 2026) at the Civic Center of Chattogram District Police Lines, SP Masud Alam met with district-level representatives and leaders from Puja committees across 17 thanas to ensure peaceful, secure, and celebratory conditions. He instructed organizers not to share unverified online information and to immediately report any malicious rumors or destabilization attempts to law enforcement. The meeting emphasized comprehensive security measures, including functional CCTV setups, dedicated lighting and backup generators, volunteer deployments, fire safety, and heightened protection for female devotees and children. Additionally, police authorities advised establishing local harmony committees comprising mosque imams, religious leaders, and community representatives while requesting strict compliance with volume limits during Azan and prayer times. District Commandant of Ansar & VDP Md. Sefaful Hossain and senior police officials assured full administrative support throughout the festival.
