Coaches of Intercity Teesta Express Detach Mid-Journey in Gafargaon, Halting Dhaka-Mymensingh Rail Route for 30 Minutes
Railway personnel restoring train coach coupling connections in Gafargaon following the brief operational disruption.

Train movement along the Dhaka-Mymensingh railway corridor was temporarily suspended for approximately 30 minutes on Tuesday morning (October 27, 2026) after two coaches of the Dewanganj-bound intercity Teesta Express detached while in motion in Gafargaon upazila, Mymensingh.

The incident occurred around 10:45 AM when the Dhaka-originating intercity train reached the Maijhati Bottala area under Gafargaon upazila. According to railway police, the coupling connection between the 'Ta' (ত) and 'Tha' (থ) coaches suddenly snapped, causing the rear coaches to disconnect from the rest of the train. Mymensingh Railway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Aktar Hossain confirmed the incident and stated that no casualties or injuries occurred during the sudden decoupling.

Upon detecting the detachment, the train driver promptly brought the locomotive to a controlled stop and safely reversed the forward section. Working alongside the train conductor and railway technical crew, staff successfully re-coupled the detached coaches by 11:15 AM. Following thorough safety checks, the Teesta Express departed for Mymensingh, and normal train operations across the Dhaka-Mymensingh line were fully restored.
