Disaster Management and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu stated on Friday (October 9, 2026) that the constitution will be amended in accordance with the July Charter following discussions on any notes of dissent, highlighting that a parliamentary committee including opposition representation has been formed to implement the charter.

Speaking to journalists after inaugurating the construction work of the Shaheed Abu Sayed Gate at Begum Rokeya University in Rangpur, the minister emphasized the government's commitment to equitable regional development, outlining plans to leverage cheap land and labor in the food-rich Rangpur region to establish industries and eradicate unemployment.

Addressing the Teesta Megaproject, Dulu noted that comprehensive surveys and designs are underway with implementation expected to commence in 2027. He also announced that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will visit Lalmonirhat on November 19 to inspect a social movement against drug abuse, which the government aims to expand nationwide.

The inauguration event was attended by University Grants Commission Member Professor Dr. Abdullah Al Mamun, University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Showkat Ali, Bangladesh Steel and Engineering Corporation Chairman Abdul Khaleque, Shaheed Abu Sayed’s father Mokbul Hossain, and Deputy Commissioner Israt Jahan, among others. The 16.5 million taka gate project is scheduled for completion by August 31, 2027.
