A massive fire that broke out at a jute godown in front of Nure Madina Madrasa near Water Kingdom of Fantasy Kingdom in the Jamgora area of Ashulia, Dhaka, was brought under control at around 1:15 AM on Friday (October 9, 2026) night after a grueling three-and-a-half-hour operation by six units from the DEPZ and Jirabo Modern fire stations.

Industrial Police-1 Superintendent Mohammad Mominul Islam Bhuiyan confirmed the development, noting that the blaze gutted approximately 17 godowns and shops containing waste jute, clothing, and garment accessories, while also spreading to damage several nearby semi-pucca residential houses.

Eyewitnesses and officials reported that severe traffic congestion along the Bypass-Jamgora road delayed fire engines, and firefighters faced immense challenges securing water sources.

Jirabo Fire Service Senior Station Officer Shahabuddin and Dhaka Zone-4 Deputy Assistant Director Hafizur Rahman stated that no casualties have been reported so far, though cooling and damping down operations continue, and the exact origin and extent of losses will be determined following a thorough investigation.
