Cyclonic Storm 'Arnab' has intensified over the east-central and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal, with projections indicating it will strengthen into a severe cyclonic storm by midnight. Centered near latitude 15.4° north and longitude 89.0° east as of 6:00 am today, the system has tracked northwestward and is expected to head west-northwest before making landfall along the Andhra Pradesh coast of India by October 28 as a very severe cyclonic storm.
While the core of the system targets the Indian coastline, it is anticipated to influence weather conditions in parts of Bangladesh. Rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds are likely at one or two places in the Chattogram division, while the rest of the country remains mainly dry with partly cloudy skies. Temperatures across the country may experience a slight upward trend. Coastal residents have been advised to stay tuned to official meteorological updates as the storm progresses.
