DB Arrests Two Retired Army Officers Over Anti-State Conspiracy and Seditious Digital Campaigning
The Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police briefing journalists in Dhaka on Monday following the arrest of two retired military officers in Pallabi and Banani DOHS.

The Detective Branch (DB) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested two retired Bangladesh Army officers on charges of conspiring against the state and generating seditious digital propaganda to incite public unrest.

The arrestees have been identified as Lieutenant (Retd) Kazi Gulshan Ara (43) and Lieutenant Colonel (Retd) Debashish (47). Confirming the operation on Monday (October 12, 2026), DMP Media and Public Relations Division Deputy Commissioner Md. Akhtar Hossain stated that DB teams conducted coordinated raids between 12:00 AM and 3:00 AM in the Pallabi and Banani DOHS areas of the capital.

According to law enforcement, the suspects and their associates operated digital platforms—including a group titled "Unity Care Public Parliament" and a portal named "KalAajKal.com"—to produce and circulate anti-government content. Investigations reveal that the suspects were allegedly involved in illegal funding channels to support activities of banned organizations while attempting to destabilize state institutions through online campaigns active since August 5, 2024. Formal legal proceedings and anti-terrorism cases are currently being processed as interrogations continue.
