The Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (Mirpur Division) has arrested 11 leaders and activists of the banned Awami League, Jubo League, and Chhatra League for inciting violence, vehicle arson, and sabotage under the guise of garment worker protests in Mirpur.
Confirming the operation on Sunday afternoon, November 1, 2026, DB Mirpur Division Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mohammad Rakib Khan revealed that political operatives systematically infiltrated the garment workers' demonstrations for a ৳30,000 minimum monthly salary. The investigation established that Alif Mollah, nephew of fugitive former Awami League Member of Parliament Elias Uddin Mollah, served as the key coordinator. Alif Mollah brought over 100 grassroots political activists from various districts—including Barishal, Patuakhali, Cox's Bazar, and Gaibandha—into Dhaka to trigger violent confrontations with police and torch law enforcement vehicles at Mirpur-10 and Mirpur-11.
