Department of Narcotics Control Raids Three Elite Dhaka Establishments, Uncovering Permit Violations and Illicit Liquor
Department of Narcotics Control officials conducting regulatory and anti-narcotics inspections across elite hospitality venues in Dhaka.

The Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) uncovered multiple regulatory violations during surprise raids on five-star hotel Amari Dhaka and two prominent bars in the capital on Wednesday (October 14, 2026).

Briefing media representatives, DNC Dhaka Metro (North) Deputy Director Md. Raziur Rahman stated that the operations were led by the DNC's Dhaka Divisional Additional Director and an Executive Magistrate acting on confidential tip-offs. During the inspections, authorities checked bar operating licenses and legal compliance across the three venues. At Hotel Amari, officers found seven individuals consuming alcohol without valid permits, and legal proceedings are currently underway against them under the Executive Magistrate.

Meanwhile, inspectors at Kingfisher Bar seized 14 liters of Keru foreign-labeled liquor lacking valid documentation or procurement papers. At Bliss Art Bar, officers found the establishment locked upon arrival, prompting them to extract CCTV security footage to examine recent operational activities and verify compliance. The DNC confirmed that legal actions are being enforced under Section 15(1) of the Narcotics Control Act, 2018 (Amended 2026), and vowed that anti-narcotics sweeps and licensing audits will continue across Dhaka.
