Officials from Dhaka Customs House intercepted two Chinese passengers at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) in Dhaka and recovered 12.06 kilograms of gold paste worth approximately Tk 24 crore concealed inside their denim pants and undergarments.

According to an official press release issued by Dhaka Customs House at 10:00 PM on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, customs authorities deployed specialized surveillance across airport terminals upon receiving secret intelligence regarding a major smuggling attempt aboard Emirates flight EK586 arriving from Dubai at 5:15 PM. Following immigration clearance, customs officers intercepted two passengers—identified as Chen Liyun and Mo Xiaoyu—at Baggage Belt-2 for body searches.

A thorough search revealed soft yellow gold paste stitched inside custom fabric linings within their jeans and undergarments. Preliminary forensic testing confirmed that the seized gold paste boasts 24-karat purity. Dhaka Customs House confirmed that legal proceedings are underway against both suspects under the Customs Act, 2023 and relevant criminal provisions.
