The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested 480 individuals and registered 51 cases following intensive 24-hour anti-crime and anti-narcotics drives across the capital.
Releasing the operational data on Friday (October 9, 2026), DMP Media and Public Relations Division Deputy Commissioner Md. Akhtar Hossain confirmed that the drives targeted criminal hideouts and drug hotspots across all police divisions. Division-wise arrest breakdowns include 124 in Mirpur, 90 in Tejgaon, 71 in Wari, 51 in Uttara, 49 in Motijheel, 41 in Lalbagh, 32 in Gulshan, 21 in Ramna, and one by the Detective Branch (DB). During the coordinated raids, law enforcement seized 1.16 kilograms of cannabis, 2,237 Yaba tablets, 20 bottles of Phensedyl, eight stolen mobile phones, a cleaver, and BDT 35,000 in cash, while successfully rescuing one victim from captivity. DMP authorities confirmed that legal proceedings against all arrested individuals are underway under applicable statutes.
