DNCRP Fines 116 Business Establishments BDT 10.91 Lakh in Nationwide Market Raid
DNCRP officials inspecting essential commodity pricing and product receipts during a nationwide market surveillance operation on Wednesday.

The Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP) conducted a massive nationwide market monitoring operation across 47 districts including Dhaka Metropolitan, penalizing 116 business establishments a total of BDT 10.91 lakh for trade irregularities.

Deploying 57 enforcement teams on Wednesday (October 7, 2026), DNCRP officials inspected dealer, wholesale, and retail outlets to verify government-mandated price compliance for Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinders, inspect edible oil stocks, and enforce price tag displays alongside purchase vouchers. In a major crackdown during the drive, DNCRP Assistant Director Md. Mahmud Hasan Roni raided a residence in the Koidanga area of Bhangura Upazila, Pabna, uncovering a synthetic milk manufacturing operation that mixed palm oil, detergent, and jelly compounds with natural milk. Enforcement officers confiscated blender equipment alongside adulteration materials, destroyed the toxic milk batch on-site, fined perpetrator Abul Bashar BDT 1 lakh under Sections 42 and 43 of the Consumer Rights Protection Act, 2009, and sealed the premises. Warning traders against artificial hoarding or overcharging, DNCRP reiterated that consumer market monitoring will continue and urged citizens to report price gouging to hotline 16121.
