Prime Minister Tarique Rahman stated on October 7, 2026, that his government is fully committed to ensuring equal rights and dignity for every citizen, regardless of religion, caste, class, or profession.

During a meeting with representatives of the Hindu and Buddhist communities at his office in the Bangladesh Secretariat, the Prime Minister listened to their concerns and announced increased financial allocations of Tk 5 crore for Sharadiya Durga Puja and Tk 3 crore for the Kathin Chibar Dan festival, exceeding their initial requests.

The community representatives expressed profound gratitude for the extended government holiday for Durga Puja and the increased grants. The meeting was attended by prominent community leaders, trustees, and officials, including PM's Special Assistant Bijon Kanti Sarkar and lawmakers Nipun Roy Chowdhury and Subarna Shikdar Thakur.
