In a coordinated drive to stabilize retail egg prices, prevent unlawful profiteering, and restore market order, Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) executed simultaneous monitoring drives and mobile court operations across major wholesale and kitchen markets on Saturday (October 3, 2026).
The joint surveillance operations targeted key commercial nodes, including Fakirapool Market, Kaptan Bazar, Basabo Bou Bazar, and Nawabganj Market. During the operation at Basabo Bou Bazar, Executive Magistrate and Zone-2 Regional Executive Officer Abu Aslam filed two cases under the Dhaka South City Corporation Act, 2009, imposing a combined fine of BDT 15,000 for regulatory non-compliance and illegal footpath encroachment. Inspection teams meticulously cross-verified wholesale purchase receipts, retail pricing structures, and profit margins to prevent artificial market manipulation. Concurrently, Executive Magistrate Hasiba Khan monitored supply chains at Fakirapool Market, Executive Magistrate Aminul Islam conducted checks at Kaptan Bazar, and Executive Magistrates Akhtar Un Nesa Sheuly and Joynal Molla oversaw inspections in Ward 23 and Ward 7 respectively. Municipal officials reaffirmed that rigorous market surveillance will persist across all DSCC zones to maintain consumer affordability.
