A democratically elected government must act swiftly and effectively to fulfill public expectations, as representatives face accountability every five years at the ballot box, declared Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives Dr. Abdul Moyeen Khan.
Speaking as chief guest at the "Review Meeting on Solar Power, Dengue Prevention, and Development Programs" organized by the Local Government Division at the Samabay Bhaban multipurpose hall in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar on Saturday (October 3, 2026), Minister Moyeen Khan highlighted the dual responsibility of civil servants and elected representatives to optimize limited resources for rapid civic service delivery. He urged widespread rooftop solar panel installations on Union and Upazila Parishad buildings to lighten grid demands. State Minister for Public Administration Md. Abdul Bari stressed integrity, transparency, and performance-based promotions in field administration, while State Minister for Local Government Mir Shahe Alam outlined upcoming welfare drives—including rolling out Family and Farmer Cards within four years, issuing revised fertilizer dealer licenses, transitioning rural road construction from traditional bricks to concrete CC and uni-blocks, and executing legal frameworks for easy-bike registration. State Minister Alam also instructed Upazila Nirbahi Officers (UNOs) to ensure peaceful celebrations during the upcoming Sharadiya Durga Puja and prepare for free, fair local government elections commencing in January.
