Early winter vegetables have officially arrived in Dhaka's retail kitchen markets, bringing a wide range of fresh produce to consumers alongside a modest drop in egg prices.

A Friday (October 9, 2026) market survey across Rayer Bazar and Mohammadpur Krishi Market revealed that early winter vegetables are available in good supply, albeit at premium early-season rates. Country beans (shim) are selling at BDT 150 per kg, cauliflower at BDT 70 per piece, and radishes (mula) at BDT 70 per kg. Regular staple vegetables including brinjal, bitter gourd, yardlong beans, and pointed gourd continue to trade between BDT 70 and BDT 120 per kg, while green chilies have eased significantly to BDT 120–140 per kg due to increased arrivals.

In the poultry segment, egg prices provided relief to consumers, dropping by BDT 10 per dozen to settle at BDT 140 (BDT 50 for four). Broiler chicken remains steady at BDT 180 per kg, Sonali chicken at BDT 310 per kg, and beef at BDT 800 per kg. Fish prices remained unchanged from last week, with farm tilapia trading at BDT 250–260 per kg and medium-sized Rui ranging between BDT 300 and BDT 350 per kg.
