The Election Commission (EC) has officially commenced its crucial 13th commission meeting at the Election Bhaban in Agargaon, focusing primarily on establishing the schedule, framework, and phased roadmap for upcoming Union Parishad (UP) elections and other local government bodies.
The meeting, which began at 10:30 AM on Monday (October 12, 2026), is being presided over by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) A M M Nasir Uddin, with all election commissioners and senior officials in attendance. According to EC officials, the primary agenda item centers on determining the specific timeframes, slots, and operational phases for nationwide Union Parishad polls.
Rather than centralized schedule issuances, the commission will establish structural time slots, empowering district election officers to handle decentralized schedule declarations. In addition to electoral roadmaps, the session is addressing administrative and financial empowerment for National Identity (NID) wing officials, reviewing expert committee findings on NID personalization machinery maintenance, clearing printing backlogs, and granting final policy approval for the draft National Election Medal Policy 2025.
