The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested 24-year-old Hridoy Khan from the Dolaipar area of Jatrabari in connection with the brutal torture and murder of his two-month-old daughter, Sabiha Islam Roza, in Dhaka's Darus Salam area.
According to RAB-4 Media Officer Nurangir Nahid, who briefed media on Monday (October 12, 2026), the accused had been on the run since the incident. Acting on intelligence and digital tracking, a joint team of RAB-4 and RAB-10 conducted a raid on Sunday night (October 11) and apprehended Hridoy.
Case details and primary interrogations reveal that Hridoy married Laboni Akter (19) on July 2 of last year—his second marriage—and they resided in a rented home in Darus Salam's Gendartek area. Their daughter Roza was born on June 11. On the night of August 22, following a domestic dispute while the mother and baby were asleep, Hridoy choked and severely assaulted the two-month-old infant before fleeing. The next morning, the mother discovered the baby critically injured and rushed her to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital, from where doctors transferred her to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Dhaka Medical College Hospital. After 16 days of intensive medical care, the infant succumbed to her injuries on September 6. Following her death, the child's mother, Laboni Akter, filed a murder case at Darus Salam Police Station, prompting the investigating officer to seek RAB's assistance. The arrested accused has been handed over to the police for further legal proceedings.
