Bangladeshi migrant workers unable to reach Saudi Arabia within their visa validity period due to flight disruptions stemming from ongoing Middle East regional hostilities will be granted re-entry into the Kingdom.
The announcement was made by Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Ariful Haque Choudhury during his speech as chief guest at a discussion program hosted at the BIAM Foundation Auditorium in Iskaton, Dhaka, on Monday (October 26, 2026). Minister Choudhury explained that affected workers whose Iqama (residence permit) validity expired due to forced delays will be automatically processed and granted entry through Saudi Arabia’s updated electronic portal system.
Addressing recruiting agencies, the Minister issued a stern warning against exorbitant migration fees. He emphasized that charging BDT 700,000 to 800,000 for overseas placements that normally cost BDT 300,000 is unacceptable and counterproductive to national manpower export targets. Furthermore, State Minister for Expatriates' Welfare Nurul Huq appealed to Saudi Ambassador Dr. Abdullah Zafar H. Bin Abiah to consider royal clemency for imprisoned Bangladeshi nationals in the Kingdom ahead of the upcoming Holy Ramadan. Ambassador Bin Abiah highlighted that Bangladeshi workers constitute the second-largest foreign population in Saudi Arabia, pledging continued cooperation in manpower and labor affairs.
