The father of former Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) Flight Lieutenant KM Tahsif Suri has firmly rejected claims of suicide, suspecting that his son was murdered and his body dumped into the Turag River after stepping out of his residence to meet a friend.
Speaking to journalists outside the Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital morgue at 2:30 PM on Thursday, October 29, 2026, Tahsif's father, KM Enayetul Karim, recounted the events leading up to the tragedy. On the evening of October 27, Tahsif went shopping with his mother—purchasing items for both parents—before receiving a call from a friend named Dweep. Tahsif informed his mother he was going downstairs briefly to speak with Dweep but never returned. Although his mother made repeated unsuccessful phone calls, Tahsif sent a text message after 1:00 AM stating he was returning home. His body was recovered from the Turag River near Rajabari Ghat in Uttarkhan at 4:30 PM on Wednesday, October 28, an area his father emphasized Tahsif had never frequented.
Describing his son as polite, social, and vibrant, Enayetul Karim dismissed any possibility of suicide. He noted that Tahsif had undergone rigorous training as a Commissioned BAF officer, maintained an open and friendly relationship with his family, had worked with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and Netra News, and was currently employed as an Administration and Security Officer at a firm named 'Varga'. Dhaka District River Police SP Abdullah Al Mamun stated that while no external injury marks were found, legal action and homicide investigation will proceed based on the formal complaint submitted by the family and the final autopsy findings.
