Police have arrested Sharmin Sultana Dormi (44), a former organizational secretary of the Jubo Mohila League, in connection with a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act in Dhaka's Lalbagh area.

The arrest was confirmed on Sunday morning (October 4, 2026) by Deputy Commissioner (DC) of DMP's Lalbagh Division, Md. Mostak Sarkar. According to police statements, a operational team from Lalbagh Police Station conducted a targeted drive in the Sheikh Saheb Bazar neighborhood based on secret intelligence confirming her presence. Law enforcement authorities noted that Dormi previously served as an organizational secretary for the Eden Mohila College unit of the banned Bangladesh Chhatra League, a former assistant secretary of the Bangladesh Awami League sub-committee, and as organizational secretary for the Jubo Mohila League from 2017 to 2022. DMP officials stated that legal proceedings and formal processing against the arrestee are currently underway.
