Former Panchagarh Jailor Dismissed From Service Over BDT 1.33 Crore Corruption Via 57 Fake Bills
The Ministry of Home Affairs in Dhaka, which issued the dismissal order of former Panchagarh Jailor Md. Abdul Fattah over embezzlement on Sunday.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has officially dismissed former Panchagarh Jailor Md. Abdul Fattah from government service after a departmental investigation proved his direct involvement in embezzling BDT 1.33 crore of public money through 57 fraudulent billing vouchers.

According to a gazette notification issued on Sunday (October 11, 2026) and signed by Home Ministry Senior Secretary Manjur Mourshed Chowdhury, the irregularities were first uncovered during a financial audit of Panchagarh District Jail covering the period from 2018 to 2024. During his tenure as Jailor between January 17, 2023, and September 28, 2024, Abdul Fattah misappropriated government funds allocated for dietary rations. A three-member inquiry committee constituted by the Prisons Directorate subsequently conducted a field-level investigation and confirmed that Fattah processed 57 fake bills through three bogus contractor firms—'Baba Mayer Doa', 'Nur Store', and 'Shuvo Saw Mill'—to embezzle BDT 1,33,20,000 during the 2023–24 and 2024–25 financial years. Concluding the disciplinary proceedings, the Ministry ordered his immediate dismissal from service.
