Hundreds of readymade garment (RMG) workers from several factories staged a road blockade at the busy Mirpur-10 roundabout in Dhaka on Thursday morning, October 29, 2026, demanding a minimum monthly wage of Tk 30,000.

The protest began at around 9:30 AM, causing immediate disruption to vehicular movement and triggering severe traffic congestion across surrounding arterial corridors including Mirpur-11, Kazipara, Agargaon, and Farmgate routes. Assistant Commissioner (AC) of Pallabi Traffic Zone Sajia Afroz confirmed the blockade, noting that workers from multiple factories converged at the roundabout to voice their demands.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) of DMP Mirpur Division Hasan Mohammad Nasser Rikabder stated that police personnel were deployed to the location to negotiate with the demonstrating workers and persuade them to clear the road safely. Meanwhile, the Mirpur Traffic Division issued an official public advisory on its social media page, warning commuters that vehicular movement through the Mirpur-10 intersection remains temporarily suspended due to the ongoing demonstration.
