Demonstrating readymade garment (RMG) workers who blocked the Mirpur-10 roundabout in Dhaka demanding a minimum monthly wage of Tk 30,000 have vacated the intersection after two hours, restoring normal vehicular movement across the sector.
The workers cleared the road at around 11:30 AM on Thursday, October 29, 2026. Deputy Commissioner (DC) of DMP Mirpur Division Hasan Mohammad Nasser Rikabder confirmed that police officers engaged in peaceful dialogue with the demonstrators, requesting them to withdraw the blockade to alleviate commuter suffering. The workers complied with the request and dispersed peacefully from the roundabout.
Earlier in the morning at approximately 9:30 AM, hundreds of workers from several nearby apparel factories gathered at the intersection, bringing traffic to a complete standstill. The two-hour protest had triggered severe gridlock across Mirpur-10, Mirpur-11, Kazipara, and Agargaon. Following the clearance of the intersection, traffic flow rapidly normalized across all connected arterial corridors.
