Minister for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Fakir Mahbub Anam has emphasized that the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) across government public services must remain responsible, transparent, accountable, and human-centric.
Delivering an opening address on behalf of 12 participating nations at the two-day inter-regional conference titled "AI Governance in Practice: Practical Use Cases, Institutional Capacity, Innovation at Scale and Global Cooperation" in Istanbul, Turkey, on Tuesday (October 6, 2026), Minister Anam highlighted that rapid AI adoption must be accompanied by skilled human resources, robust institutional capacities, sound data governance, and timely legal frameworks. He warned against letting the existing global digital divide evolve into an AI divide, urging technology transfer, capacity building, and affordable tech access for developing nations. The Minister reaffirmed Bangladesh's commitment to building international trust and collaborative governance platforms that prevent marginalization. Co-organized by the Republic of Korea, the Astana Civil Service Hub, UNDP, and Turkey, the summit convened ministers, senior officials, and international development partners from across the Caucasus, Central Asia, and Asia-Pacific regions.
