Government Rebuilding Health Sector from Ruins, Says President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir
President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir speaking on health sector reforms at the BSCRS Congress 2026.

President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir stated on Tuesday (October 27, 2026) that while the current administration inherited a healthcare system in ruins, substantial progress is now being achieved. However, he emphasized that planned initiatives, strict financial transparency, and uncompromising accountability remain vital to making the nation's medical services truly effective and people-centric.

Addressing the inaugural session of the BSCRS Congress 2026, organized by the Bangladesh Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, the President remarked that historical corruption and unplanned execution severely constrained healthcare advancement in past years. He noted that while the current government has prioritized healthcare through increased budgetary allocations, monetary expansion alone is insufficient. Every taka spent must be accounted for with complete propriety and efficiency to deliver tangible medical improvements to citizens.

President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir stressed that medical treatment is a fundamental human right, urging all stakeholders to ensure that no individual is denied necessary care due to poverty or financial hardship. He also highlighted the urgent need to expand domestic specialized medical infrastructure, modern surgical techniques, and expert medical personnel so that Bangladeshi citizens no longer feel compelled to seek specialized treatment abroad. Commending the BSCRS Congress 2026, he expressed confidence that the new generation of surgeons and specialized medical professionals will drive the nation's healthcare sector forward.
