Minister for Health and Family Welfare Sardar Md. Sakhawat Hossain has declared a zero-tolerance policy against corruption in the healthcare sector, pledging a radical transformation within the next two years to guarantee quality medical care domestically so that Bangladeshi patients no longer need to travel to India for treatment.

The Health Minister made these remarks as the chief guest on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, during the inauguration of a joint primary healthcare initiative by the Rahman Development Foundation and Shakti Foundation at the Kasba Upazila Parishad premises in Brahmanbaria.

Criticizing past administrative lapses under the former Awami League government, the Minister pointed out that medical equipment worth crores of Taka was procured without appointing the necessary technical personnel, leaving vital machinery unutilized. He stated that the current BNP-led administration is actively repairing healthcare infrastructure and expediting the recruitment of doctors and medical staff across urban and rural upazila health complexes. Following the discussion presided over by Brahmanbaria Deputy Commissioner Md. Abu Sayeed and opened by Brahmanbaria-4 MP Mushfiqur Rahman, guests officially flagged off the Shakti Mobile Health Clinic service for local communities.
