Government's Top Priority Is Restoring Law & Order to Bring Public Relief: Home Minister

Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed stated that the primary priority of the current government is to restore law and order, bring public relief, and establish peace across the country.

Speaking as the chief guest at the passing out parade of the 27th Apprentice Sergeants and 43rd Cadet SI-2006 Batch at the Bangladesh Police Academy in Sarda, Rajshahi at 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 29, 2026, the Home Minister highlighted the pivotal role of the police force in enforcing the rule of law. He noted that like other state institutions, the police force suffered severe damage during the previous regime, but has gradually recovered to its current operational capacity.

Addressing the graduating police officers, Minister Ahmed urged them to act with impartiality, compassion, and strict adherence to the law. He noted that emerging crime patterns—including cybercrime, online financial fraud, human trafficking, and organized syndicates—require modern technology, DNA forensic analysis, and specialized cyber police units. Commenting on the recent recovery of former BAF Flight Lt. KM Tahsif Suri's body from the Turag River, the Minister refrained from making premature statements, asserting that the government will review full autopsy and forensic reports before offering official conclusions.
