The government plans to drill two appraisal-cum-development wells (Titas-32 and Titas-33) at the Titas Gas Field at an estimated cost of Tk 592 crore to boost domestic gas production by around 30 million cubic feet per day (mmcfd).
The project will be presented for approval at the upcoming ECNEC meeting on October 25, chaired by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. Implemented by Bangladesh Gas Fields Company Limited (BGFCL) between October 2026 and September 2029, the initiative is financed through Tk 414.40 crore from the government and Tk 177.60 crore from company funds.
Officials note the wells are expected to produce about 100.74 billion cubic feet of gas and condensate over 10 years, supporting national grid supplies, lowering imported LNG reliance, and contributing to the government's target of drilling 150 wells by 2031.
