Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md. Ali Hossain Fakir has assured that Bangladesh Police has deployed robust, comprehensive security measures across the country to ensure the peaceful, festive, and uninterrupted celebration of Sharadiya Durga Puja 2026.
Presiding over a high-level law enforcement coordination meeting at the Police Headquarters' Hall of Pride in Dhaka on Sunday (October 11, 2026), the IGP announced a three-tiered security strategy encompassing pre-Puja operations, continuous monitoring during festivities, and post-immersion safeguards across approximately 33,000 puja mandaps nationwide.
Emphasizing community and beat policing, IGP Fakir instructed field officers to maintain close communication with interfaith leaders and take immediate legal action against any malicious attempts to disrupt communal harmony through social media rumors or false propaganda. Specialized units—including SWAT, Crime Response Teams (CRT), Quick Response Teams (QRT), Crime Scene Vans, and Bomb Disposal Units—will remain on round-the-clock standby alongside 24/7 central and unit monitoring cells. Leaders from the Hindu Religious Welfare Trust, Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council, and Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad expressed their satisfaction with the government's security arrangements, while puja organizers were advised to maintain active CCTV surveillance, standby generators, and dedicated volunteer teams at all mandaps.
