
Under the slogan 'If you have a farmer card, you will get services immediately,' the nationwide distribution of Agricultural Input Support-2026 and Farmer Cards was virtually inaugurated in Puthia, Rajshahi, by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman launched the central program from the Fulgazi Government Pilot High School ground in Feni. The inauguration ceremony was broadcast live via projector at the Puthia Upazila Parishad auditorium.
Under this initiative, landless, marginal, and small farmers—specifically those holding less than 249 acres of land—will receive an annual subsidy of BDT 2,500. A total of 4.3 million (43 lakh) farmers are set to receive Farmer Cards this year. On the day of the launch, 100,047 farmers across 77 blocks in 77 upazilas of 56 districts nationwide received agricultural support. As part of this program in Puthia Upazila, 1,207 farmers across three blocks received cards: 1,229 in Tarapur Block, 1,229 in Kandra Block, and 388 in Puthia Block, while 1,124 farmers were provided with direct agricultural input assistance.
Implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture and organized jointly by the Puthia Upazila Administration and the Department of Agricultural Extension, the ceremony was attended by Member of Parliament Professor Nazrul Islam Mandal (MP, Rajshahi-5). Among others present were Rajshahi Divisional Commissioner Yusuf Ali, Deputy Commissioner Kazi Shahidul Islam, Puthia Upazila Nirbahi Officer Liaqat Salman, Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Shibu Das, Puthia Upazila Agriculture Officer Smriti Rani, Upazila Livestock Officer Dr. Md. Mahmudul Hasan, former Puthia Upazila Parishad Chairman Anwarul Islam Jumma, former Organizing Secretary of Rajshahi District Jubo Dal Zulfikar Rahman (Bhutu), along with leaders of BNP and its affiliated organizations, local farmers, and officers from various upazila administration departments.
