In a heartwarming display of humanity, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Shibu Das has come to the aid of a helpless, cancer-stricken, and physically disabled elderly man in Puthia Upazila, Rajshahi.
The elderly man, who has been battling incurable cancer for a long time, relies on a custom battery-powered wheelchair for daily mobility due to physical disabilities in both legs. However, his independence was cut short when unidentified miscreants stole the two batteries from his vehicle overnight, leaving him completely immobilized.
Upon hearing about the tragic incident, AC (Land) Shibu Das immediately expressed deep sympathy and personally took initiative to resolve the man's predicament. He ensured financial arrangements were made so the elderly man could purchase replacement batteries and regain his mobility.
Speaking on his decision to step in, Shibu Das said, "I was deeply distressed after hearing the news. I immediately tried to arrange a way for him to buy new batteries so he could move around freely as before." Highlighting the importance of civic responsibility, he added, "We should all try our best from our respective positions to ensure the well-being of everyone in our society."
Local residents have widely appreciated and praised the officer's swift, compassionate response, hailing it as an extraordinary example of public service and human values.
