Japan expects the upcoming visit of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman to deepen bilateral understanding, strengthen the two countries' Strategic Partnership, and create fresh momentum for economic cooperation, particularly in investment, infrastructure development, and business confidence.
The Prime Minister will pay an official visit to Japan from October 26 to 29 at the invitation of Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi. During the visit, Tarique Rahman will hold high-level bilateral talks with Takaichi in Tokyo on October 27.
The Economic Section of the Embassy of Japan in Dhaka stated that Japan welcomes the Prime Minister's first visit, hoping it will advance regional peace, security, and shared prosperity. On the economic front, Japanese investors' sentiment is improving due to the new government's pro-business policies.
The Prime Minister is scheduled to deliver the keynote address at the Japan-Bangladesh Economic Forum, meet Japanese business leaders, and visit key installations including an LNG terminal in Chiba, the UNIQLO headquarters, and a Toyota factory in Nagoya.
Furthermore, discussions will focus on the effective implementation of the Bangladesh-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA), signed in February 2026, alongside potential memorandums of understanding in agriculture, fisheries, human resource development, and civil aviation.
