Food Minister Afroza Khanam Rita said that the government of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has been working for the development of rural road infrastructure for better communication for the people.
She made this statement while inaugurating two roads—from Gilanda Bazaar to Tara Toll Plaza and from Gilanda Central Mosque to Gilanda Eidgah Maidan in the district.
The food minister noted that these roads were constructed 23 years ago when her father, Harunor Rashid Khan, served as a minister. Over the long period, they were not maintained and became unusable, prompting her to take the initiative to repair them to alleviate public suffering.
The two roads, measuring 1,500 meters and 1,000 meters in length, connect most areas of the village and are being implemented by the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED). Executive Engineer of Power Grid Dewan Gias Mahmud and Manikganj Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO), among others, attended the inauguration function.
