Police and CID investigators coordinate at DMCH following the fatal train mugging incident near Kurmitola.

An unidentified man, aged approximately 35, has died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) after being attacked and thrown from a moving train by muggers opposite Kurmitola General Hospital in the capital's Cantonment area.

The assault occurred on Wednesday evening (September 30, 2026) around 6:30 PM. According to a pedestrian named Fayez who assisted in the rescue, the victim engaged in a struggle with muggers aboard the train before being pushed onto the tracks. The man sustained severe head and bodily trauma and was initially rushed to Kurmitola General Hospital before being transferred to DMCH's One-Stop Emergency Center (OSEC) later that night. Inspector Habibur Rahman, In-Charge of the DMCH Police Camp, confirmed that the victim succumbed to his injuries at approximately 8:00 AM on Thursday (October 1, 2026). The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Crime Scene Unit has been called in to assist with fingerprint and technological identification, while the body remains at the DMCH morgue pending autopsy and Railway Police procedures.
