Medical Screening for Malaysia-Bound Workers Begins October 31; Ministry Warns Against Fraudulent Agencies
Migrant workers seeking employment abroad undergoing verification procedures in Dhaka.

Medical examinations for Bangladeshi workers seeking employment in Malaysia will officially commence on

Saturday, October 31, 2026

, across government-approved medical centers, according to an official circular issued by the

Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment

.

In a press release issued on Monday, October 28, 2026, the ministry announced that a verified list of authorized medical centers will soon be published on its official website. Workers have been strongly advised to verify the accreditation of any medical facility on the portal before undergoing health screenings or surrendering passports and fees. The ministry warned that any medical center or recruiting agency attempting to conduct screenings without official authorization will face immediate delisting and legal prosecution.

The alert comes in response to reports of fraudulent brokers and unaccredited recruiting agencies attempting to collect passports and extortionate fees under the pretext of unauthorized medical tests. To streamline compliance, recruiting agencies applying for Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training (BMET) clearance must submit screening records from approved medical centers alongside official Visa With Reference (VDR) documents. Non-compliant entities risk operational shutdowns, recruitment license suspensions, and government clearance revocations. The ministry has urged citizens to report illegal screening activities with evidentiary details directly to [email protected].
