The process for resetting the minimum monthly wage for ready-made garment (RMG) workers is advancing as the Minimum Wage Board convenes its second official meeting on Monday, November 9, 2026. The Ministry of Labour and Employment announced the meeting schedule through a press release issued on Thursday, November 5, 2026.

According to the official notice signed by Board Secretary Raisa Afroz, the meeting will take place at 11:00 AM at the Minimum Wage Board room in Segunbagicha, Dhaka. Board Chairman and District & Sessions Judge Syed Azad Subhani will preside over the session. Convened under Section 139 of the Bangladesh Labour Act, 2006, the primary objective of this second meeting is for representatives of both garment workers and factory owners to formally submit their separate written salary proposals and evaluate recommendations across various worker and employee grades.

In light of ongoing wage review proceedings, apex trade bodies BGMEA (Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association) and BKMEA (Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association) have jointly urged RMG workers to refrain from unrest and resume factory operations. Emphasizing that continuous protests damage national economic stability and factory viability, owner associations urged workers to place faith in the formal tripartite negotiations.
