Foreign Ministry building premises in Dhaka where a minor fire in the DCAB press lounge was swiftly brought under control.

A minor fire broke out on the second floor of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs old building in Dhaka on Monday afternoon (October 26, 2026), specifically inside the lounge of the Diplomatic Correspondents Association, Bangladesh (DCAB).

The incident occurred at approximately 3:30 PM. Upon receiving the emergency call, two firefighting units from the Siddique Bazar Fire Station were immediately dispatched to the site. However, Ministry staff and officials managed to extinguish the flame before the fire service vehicles arrived at the premises.

According to Fire Service Control Room official Talha Bin Zasim, the fire originated among books and papers kept inside the journalists' seating area on the second floor of the five-story building. No casualties or major structural damages were reported. Fire service personnel subsequently conducted an on-site inspection of the DCAB lounge to investigate the exact cause and origin of the fire.
