New Low-Pressure Area Expected in Bay of Bengal by October 13 Following Monsoon Withdrawal
Dark storm clouds gathering over the coastline as the Bangladesh Meteorological Department forecasts a new low-pressure system in the Bay of Bengal by October 13.

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has announced that while the southwest monsoon has officially withdrawn from Bangladesh, a new low-pressure system is expected to form in the southeastern Bay of Bengal by October 13.

According to a weather bulletin issued on Saturday (October 10, 2026) by BMD meteorologist Md. Shahinul Islam, the impending system is projected to trigger light to moderate rain and thundershowers accompanied by gusty winds across various divisions over the next five days. On Sunday (October 11), light to moderate rain or thundershowers are anticipated at isolated locations across the Khulna and Chittagong divisions, with dry and partly cloudy conditions prevailing elsewhere. Rainfall will expand to the Barisal, Chittagong, Dhaka, Khulna, and Sylhet divisions through Tuesday and Wednesday (October 13–14) as the low-pressure system takes shape, causing day and night temperatures to drop slightly across the country.
