The 'October 10 Genocide Day' was observed in Nawabganj upazila of Dinajpur through various programs, including paying homage to martyrs at the Chararhat killing field, discussions, and special prayers. Organized by the upazila administration on Saturday (October 10, 2026), a discussion meeting was held at the Chararhat Shaheed Minar premises with Nawabganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer Bidhan Kanti Halder in the chair.

Minister for Social Welfare and Women and Children Affairs Professor Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain attended the event as the chief guest. Earlier, war-wounded family members and representatives of various institutions placed floral wreaths at the memorial monument to pay tribute to the martyrs, followed by a moment of silence and special prayers for the salvation of the souls of the martyrs at the mass grave.

Addressing the gathering, the chief guest said that the "Chararhat Genocide of October 10" is one of the most heinous chapters in Nawabganj's history. He urged everyone to carry the spirit of this day in their hearts, move the country forward, and remain vigilant against all conspiracies and malicious attempts. The program was attended by Dinajpur District BNP Vice-President Md. Atiqur Rahman Raja, upazila Jubo Dal organizing secretary Md. Kabirul Islam Kabir, leaders of the BNP and affiliated organizations, officials of various government departments, freedom fighters, members of martyr families, Chararhat Shaheed Smriti College Acting Principal Md. Mizanur Rahman, Assistant Professor Md. Azgar Ali, teachers, students, local civil society representatives, and journalists.
