Outgoing Bangladesh High Commissioner to India, Md. Riaz Hamidullah, paid a farewell courtesy call on Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar in New Delhi on Sunday.

Sharing details of the meeting in a social media post on Sunday (October 4, 2026), External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar stated that he welcomed High Commissioner Hamidullah for his farewell call and expressed appreciation for his significant contributions toward strengthening Bangladesh-India bilateral relations. Jaishankar also extended his best wishes to the outgoing envoy for his future endeavors. High Commissioner Hamidullah is transitioning to his new diplomatic assignment as Bangladesh's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Offices in Geneva. Meanwhile, the Government of Bangladesh has appointed Foreign Secretary Asad Alam Siam as the country's next High Commissioner to India. Foreign Secretary Siam is scheduled to officially assume his new diplomatic responsibilities at the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi in November 2026.
