
The Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education of the 13th National Parliament has recommended the immediate filling of all vacant headmaster positions across government primary schools nationwide to stabilize academic administration.
During its first official meeting held at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban on Wednesday (October 7, 2026), chaired by Parliamentary Committee Chair Mahmuda Habiba, the committee issued directives to mandate moral education at the primary level and guarantee strict nutritional quality control within the ongoing school feeding (mid-day meal) programs. The parliamentary panel recommended stringent disciplinary action against those responsible if substandard food items are identified. The meeting, attended by Primary and Mass Education Minister A N M Ehsanul Hoq Milon and Minister of State Bobby Hajjaj, alongside committee members Lutfor Rahman Khan Azad, Md. Abdus Salam, and others, also reviewed budgetary allocations through June 30, 2027, for key sector bodies including the Directorate of Primary Education and the Bureau of Non-Formal Education. To ensure administrative transparency, committee members agreed to conduct surprise field visits to inspect teaching standards and school facilities during operational hours.
