The state energy corporation declared these claims as baseless rumors intended to create panic among the public.

In an official press statement issued on Tuesday, November 3, 2026—signed by Petrobangla Deputy General Manager (Public Relations) Tarikul Islam Khan—the organization clarified that gas supply will not be shut down entirely. Instead, daily gas supply will experience a temporary reduction due to scheduled maintenance work on one of the country's two Floating Storage Regasification Units (FSRUs).

Because regasification operations at the Summit LNG Terminal in Moheshkhali, Cox's Bazar, are suspended for maintenance, national daily gas supply will decrease by approximately 320 million cubic feet per day (MMCFD), moving from 2,570 MMCFD down to 2,250 MMCFD. Petrobangla emphasized that while this reduced volume may lead to temporary low gas pressure in certain areas, consumers should not be misled by fake news cards or unverified reports circulating on social platforms.
