Addressing members of the Hindu community during visits to Durga Puja mandaps in Mohakhali and the Gulshan-Banani areas in Dhaka on Sunday night (October 18, 2026), Prime Minister Tarique Rahman called upon citizens of all faiths to unite in nation-building, transcending religious identities in the spirit of the Liberation War, the democracy restoration movements, and the 2024 mass uprising.

Emphasizing that every citizen shares equal rights to the country, the Prime Minister recalled that people of all religions—Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, and Christians—fought shoulder to shoulder for Bangladesh's liberation, democratic rights, and political freedom. He noted that Bangladesh has a millennia-long tradition of communal harmony and peace. During his visits to the Mohakhali Rakshakali Temple mandap and the Banani Puja mandap, the Prime Minister was accompanied by his wife, Dr. Zubaida Rahman, and Dhaka North City Corporation Administrator Shafiqul Islam Milton.
