Prime Minister Tarique Rahman called for a collective pledge by people of all faiths to build their desired Bangladesh together during his visit to Rangpur on Tuesday (October 20, 2026).
Speaking to thousands gathered along the roadside at Paglapir on his way to visit a Durga Puja mandap for Maha Navami, he recalled the unity of the 1971 Liberation War and urged citizens—regardless of religion—to unite for national development. Highlighting his government's initiatives since taking office following the February 12 election, the Prime Minister noted measures such as agricultural loan waivers up to BDT 10,000 for farmers, Family Cards, Farmer Cards, and monthly allowances for imams, muezzins, and religious leaders of other faiths.
After arriving via military aircraft at Saidpur Airport and being received by cabinet ministers and local leaders, the Prime Minister visited the Radha Gobinda Temple in Rangpur, with subsequent visits scheduled to Rajshahi and Chattogram before returning to Dhaka.
